There are not enough words in the English language to describe accurately what happened yesterday. We decided to visit Omotepe, in order to visit an organic farm there called Finca Magdelena. We are trying to start an organic garden here at El Puente, and we wanted to see the farm there, how they do things, and what exactly they grow. Also, we are starting a coffee shop- and we wanted to see the organic coffee they grow there. At 6am yesterday, Trevor, Valerie, and I take a taxi to the bus station here in Granada. In order to get to the island of Omotepe, we have to take a bus to Rivas, then a ferry from Rivas across Lake Nicaragua. Then in Omotepe, we needed to take a bus to El Quino and then from El Quino we had to take a bus to El Bosue. From El Bosue we had to walk to Finca Magdelena. So in all by the time we got to Finca Magdelena, we had missed the first bus, missed the 2nd ferry, then took 3 buses in Omotepe and 2 taxis. A total of 9 hours of travel to get there. And we had to be back to take the last ferry home by 5:30pm. We were hot, tired, hungry, our feet were asleep, and we were sitting just laughing at the craziness of it all in the last bus to Magdelena. But then we got to Finca Magdelena and saw the beauty of the place. And it was all worth it. The pictures I have do not do the day justice yesterday. After all our crazy travels to get there and we just wanted to give up, we saw the amazing beauty of God’s creation.
YOU CAN SEE THE VOLCANO FROM THE FINCA 🙂 BEAUTIFUL
Bless the Lord, O my soul!
He set the earth on its foundations,
so that it should never be moved.
You covered it with the deep as with a garment;
the waters stood above the mountains. At your rebuke they fled;
at the sound of your thunder they took to flight. The mountains rose, the valleys sank down
to the place that you appointed for them. You set a boundary that they may not pass,
so that they might not again cover the earth. You make springs gush forth in the valleys;
they flow between the hills; they give drink to every beast of the field;
the wild donkeys quench their thirst. Beside them the birds of the heavens dwell;
they sing among the branches. From your lofty abode you water the mountains;
the earth is satisfied with the fruit of your work. You cause the grass to grow for the livestock
and plants for man to cultivate, that he may bring forth food from the earth and wine to gladden the heart of man
when all the beasts of the forest creep about. O Lord, how manifold are your works!
In wisdom have you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. Here is the sea, great and wide,
which teems with creatures innumerable, living things both small and great.
These all look to you, to give them their food in due season. When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are filled with good things. When you hide your face, they are dismayed; when you take away their breath, they die and return to their dust. When you send forth your Spirit,they are created, and you renew the face of the ground. May the glory of the Lord endure forever;
may the Lord rejoice in his works, who looks on the earth and it trembles,
who touches the mountains and they smoke! I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have being. May my meditation be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the Lord.
Bless the Lord, O my soul!
Praise the Lord!
I wish I could have made it out with you guys!
