“Dreaming is a form of praying and praying is a form of dreaming.”

There is no limit to what this combination of dreams and prayer can achieve.”
Catherine Marshall “The Adventure of Prayer”
This past week Seth Barnes Sr “Sergemaster Senior Sir” (Seth’s dad, the founder of AIM) came to visit us here in Nicaragua. He talked to us about having dreams and realizing our dreams. Recently also in Matamoros, Mexico, we had also talked about having life goals, and ten steps on completing your life goals. So I had written up a list of my life goals, and dreams that I want to accomplish in my lifetime – sorta like a bucket list, but for your entire life, not just when your dying J
Here are some examples from my life goals list:
  • Get married on a beach J
  • Celebrate honeymoon in some exotic country’s beach
  • Celebrate 10 year anniversary touring Europe
  • Live in Australia for at least a month
  • Open a coffee shop/hangout spot in Bogota, Colombia
  • See the Aurora Borealis in person
  • Go on an African safari
  • Hold baby tigers in Africa
  • Visit 6 continents by the time I am 30
  • Go to a soccer world cup
  • Dread my hair and keep it like that for at least a year
  • Open a help center for immigrants to the United States
  • Help translate the Bible to a different language
  • Go on missions trips to 5 different countries
  • Get my masters degree
  • Become fluent in Spanish
So here in Nicaragua, Seth Sr. talked to us about how to understand our dreams, and how to accomplish these dreams. We have an inward need for purpose, and dreams move us to do something. Dreams are precious because they come from the heart of God. Outrageous dreams can be accomplished because even if we don’t have the competency to accomplish these dreams, we have the ability to recruit people to help us make these dreams happen.
Seth Sr also said in order to accomplish our own dreams we need to first serve someone elses dream, by helping them in any way to accomplish their goal. And that’s what I am doing here in Nicaragua – helping to serve someone else’s dream. We are right now working on a starting a coffee shop here in Granada. This is to provide a source of income for some of the Nicaraguans here, to help raise money for Vida Joven (a youth group), to help the tourists and local businesses, and ultimately to further bring about the kingdom of God. We are hoping to have this up and running soon J
And while working at getting this coffee shop up and running, I will be learning how to set up my own coffee shop – which is one of my life goals! I have met so many people here that are just dreaming dreams and jumping into them. Its so exciting to be part of a group of people who think that nothing is impossible, and things can happen if you work at it. I’m excited to see how different my life will be when I set goals and just believe that they will happen! Dreams are never impossible.
